Multilingual Geography and Travel Expert
Mercor is collaborating with a leading AI lab on a large-scale AI training initiative focused on improving geographic reasoning, travel planning intelligence, and culturally grounded location-based analysis in advanced language models. We’re seeking experienced Geography and Travel experts to contribute by creating and evaluating geography- and travel-related prompts and responses.
This is a multilingual opportunity. We are specifically seeking experts who are fluent and deeply engaged in one or more of the following languages:
Japanese, Chinese, Korean, Spanish, Russian, German, Arabic, Thai, Tamil, or Hindi.
Importantly, we are not looking for translation ability alone. Candidates must have sustained, hands-on engagement with geography and travel within their linguistic and cultural context — including familiarity with regional destinations, transportation systems, travel norms, geographic terminology, tourism trends, and local customs.
This role is ideal for serious travelers, travel writers, geography enthusiasts, trip planners, cultural researchers, or dedicated hobbyists who actively participate in travel and geography discourse in their language ecosystem.
2. Key Responsibilities
Author realistic geography and travel prompts spanning destination analysis, itinerary planning, cultural norms, transportation logistics, climate considerations, and regional comparisons
Review and revise AI-generated responses for factual accuracy, cultural authenticity, practical feasibility, and clarity
Write high-quality human-authored “gold” responses for nuanced travel scenarios, multi-city planning, or culturally sensitive situations
Create controlled prompt variations that test subtle differences in seasonality, budget constraints, visa requirements, transportation options, or traveler preferences
Evaluate outputs across different tones (advisory, informative, conversational, technical) and instruction constraints
Identify model failure cases involving geographic inaccuracies, outdated travel information, unrealistic itineraries, or culturally inappropriate recommendations
3. Ideal Qualifications
2+ years of sustained, serious engagement with geography and/or travel as a hobby or practice (e.g., extensive travel experience, travel blogging, itinerary planning, participation in geography communities, cultural research)
Active participation in geography and travel discourse within at least one of the following languages: Japanese, Chinese, Korean, Spanish, Russian, German, Arabic, Thai, Tamil, or Hindi
Strong familiarity with regional geography, local customs, transportation infrastructure, and travel trends within your language and cultural context
Ability to clearly articulate location-based insights, travel logistics, and cultural considerations in the target language
Strong written communication skills and thoughtful editorial judgment
